Developing Mentally Healthier Communities Through Sport

Mental wellness in curling

Developing Mentally Healthier Communities Through Sport, a new set of programs and services for athletes, parents, and coaches offered by the Canadian Mental Health Association (Ontario), uses evidence-based mental health information and a sport-based approach to cover topics such as managing emotions, building healthy relationships, coping with loss, and connecting participants to support.

Through their website https://mentalwellnessinsports.ca/ athletes, parents, and coaches can access:

  • eLearning modules for coaches, parent coaches and volunteers. Each module takes approximately ten minutes to complete. Modules teach practical skills that coaches can start using immediately to support the mental wellness of sports participants.
  • Videos for athletes and participants of all ages that incorporate sport, skills building, and positive messages about mental wellness.
  • Downloadable mental wellness tip sheets for athletes and sports participants and their support teams.

Feel free to visit https://mentalwellnessinsports.ca/ and share these resources within your curling community.
