The Ontario Curling Council (OCC) is pleased to announce that the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Sport has awarded Quest for Gold funding to the sport of curling for the 2022/23 season. This funding is specifically directed towards supporting high performance athletes through direct to athlete support or by providing high performance programming that meets the requirements set out by the Ministry.
The funding commitment for the Quest for Gold program is determined on an annual basis and is not guaranteed every season.
On behalf of our Members, CurlON and NOCA, the OCC is happy to announce that Quest for Gold funding will be distributed to the four core members of the team winning provincial titles in the following disciplines.
- Wheelchair – NOCA and CurlON (8 athletes)
- U18 Boys – NOCA and CurlON (8 athletes)
- U18 Girls – NOCA and CurlON (8 athletes)
- U21 Men- NOCA and CurlON (8 athletes)
- U21 Women – NOCA and CurlON (8 athletes)
Each athlete will receive $800 to support their competition expenses at their respective National Championships. Players may win multiple cards if they win multiple provincial championships.
In addition, the four core members of the top CTRS ranked Ontario U25 teams (men and women) as of February 1, 2022 will also receive funding. Teams are ineligible if they are receiving National Next Gen or National Team Program Funding.
In order to be eligible in the U25 category, all athletes must be under the age of 25 as of June 30, 2023.
All teams who qualify will be contacted directly by the OCC.
The remainder of funds will also be used to operate our High Performance Selection Camp for 2023-2024 Academy Program and for a Regional Training Centre Coach Training Session at the High Performance Selection Camp. Details on the timing and location of those events will be forthcoming.
