The Ontario Curling Council is excited to announce the expansion of the Academy Team Program, and we’re looking for clubs across Ontario to join us in delivering this proven model for competitive youth curling development.
The OCC Academy Team Program is an innovative pathway to competitive curling for youth, providing a structured, coach-led entry point for athletes at the Train to Train and Train to Compete stages.
Since its launch in 2022, the program has successfully supported young curlers in their development by offering:
- Dedicated coaching from NCCP certified coaches
- Tryout-based team selection to ensure athlete commitment and skill alignment
- Structured training plans designed to enhance technical skills and strategic understanding
- Competitive event management to support team success
How It Works
- Host Clubs: Partnering clubs establish an Academy Team with the support of OCC.
- Coaches: Each team is led by one or two Competition Coach Certified coaches.
- Tryout Camp: Athlete selection occurs via a structured camp, ensuring commitment and funding opportunities.
- Funding: A combination of club contributions, player fees, sponsorships, and OCC funding helps sustain the program.
