The Ontario Curling Council will declare the representative for the province of Ontario (North and South combined) for the Male and Female U18 teams who will compete in the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer in Alberta – from February 15 – March 3, 2019. The Curling competition is scheduled from February 24- March 2, 2018.
Six open qualifiers will be held December 7-9, 2018, leading to an Eight Team provincial for both genders. The 7th and 8th team are the 1st and 2nd place finisher from last year’s Ontario Winter Games.
The CWGs Trials will be held in Sault Ste. Marie at the Community First Curling Centre from January 3-6, 2019.
Age Eligibility: Men’s and Women’s ONLY (Competitors shall be a maximum of 17 years of age on June 30, 2018. Year of Birth: Any athlete born on or after July 1, 2000.)
For this event – Specialized Coach Certification Standards are in effect:
Pre-Trials: Coaches will need to be Certified Competition Coach with a valid Police Check.
Trials: Teams who qualify for the CWG Trials will need to have coaches who have completed an on-line Canada Winter Games Professional Development Module as minimum certification level or Competition Development. This training must be completed by December 30, 3018.
The Online Canada Winter Games Professional Development Module will be available by approximately October 30, 2018. It will be free to all coaches with teams entered in the CWG playdowns. The Module is only mandatory for teams who qualify for the TRIALS.
