ALTC Program Overview
The Ontario Curling Council and its member associations, CurlON and the Northern Ontario Curling Association – share a mission statement, which is “To inspire and energize Ontarians to be involved in curling.”
After the successful implementation of the two-year Adult Learn to Curl Program pilot program operated throughout the province, the OCC is pleased to continue to offer this highly successful workshop to clubs, their officials and individuals interested in attracting, training and retaining new members to their respective clubs.

The ALTC Workshop
The ALTC workshop is a one-day program designed for club officials, program leaders and potential new and experienced instructional resources to attract and retain new curlers through a comprehensive system designed to build membership through superior customer service. The adult-centric programming ensures an enhanced user experience based on the key elements of instruction, programming and equipment over a six to eight week delivery period.
Enrollment in the Ontario Curling Council’s Adult Learn to Curl Program workshop provides clubs and individuals not only with a comprehensive ALTC Program Guide, but an extensive list of value-added tools and resources to enable clubs to focus on, and be successful at; recruitment, new curler instruction and membership retention.
In this workshop, OCC trained leaders will share best practices for:
- marketing & promotion
- recruitment
- the use of social media
- logistics
- data collection
- registration
- budgeting
- equipment
and provides templates and resources such as:
- brochures, flyers, posters and surveys
- instructional curriculum

Program variations exist as well for women 55+ and youth (U12 and U18).
Note: for already NCCP-certified coaches, attendance at the workshop provides three (3) valuable professional development credits in support of maintaining your certification. Ideally, each program will have one Certified Coach who is responsible for the delivery the ALTC program in each club and are supported by the ALTC trainers.
